London: Printed for Robert Faulder, 1805, Fourth Edition, Large Paper, one of only twelve ever printed.EXTRA ILLUSTRATED with 110 plates rather than the 16 plates called for. Lacking the Map of London. Very Good. Half calf with worn marbled boards. Engraved illustrations throughout. 110 engraved plates, extra illustrated with 94 additional plates of which 2 hand coloured plates - see photos. The directions for the binder collate to the fourth edition, with this Large Paper edition having many more plates than guided. The Plan of London is not present. Very scarce printing of this volume, William Thomas Lowndes records that "Large Paper in Imper. folio. Twelve copies struck off, for the purpose of illustration." Extremely rare - not even the British Library has a copy on ESTC. Interesting and quite wittily written account of London, in good condition. Imperial Folio (Almost 23" x 16"); 415pp + an 8 page unnumbered Index + 8 plates (included in the 110) bound in at the end. Extremely scarce and extremely large volume. Weighs 13.5kg. Three pages with marginal closed tears not impacting text (one repaired to p231/2). The final image is of this volume alongside the 1791 Edition which is 9.5 inches tall to give an idea of scale. Provenance: bookplate for Nathan of Churt to the front paste down. Approximately 23 inches tall. Condition Report Externally Spine good condition titles in gilt to red label, marks to the leather. Joints good condition solid, marked. Corners good condition bumped and worn. Boards good condition worn marbled paper, board edges are damaged and 'scraped'. Page edges good condition uncut and browned, 3 pages have closed tears not impacting the text. See above and photos. Internally Hinges good condition solid, rebound in the past and strengthened. Paste downs good condition bookplate to the front paste down. End papers good condition marbled. Title good condition foxed. Pages good condition foxed to some pages and plates but generally clean. Binding good condition. See photos.…
