Stuart Ashman's essay covers the development of modern art in the state. He also selected the artists to appear, such as Eugene Newmann, Janet Lippincott, Kevin Tolman, Sally Anderson, Richard Hogan, Alan Paine Radebaugh, and Pascal. These artists are presented individually in profiles by Suzanne Deats.
About the Author: Stuart Ashman is a photographer and artist and has contributed to several Fresco Fine Art Publications books. He is Cabinet Secretary of the New Mexico Department of Cultural Affairs. Suzanne Deats is a Santa Fe-based arts writer and editor. She has published hundreds of reviews and interviews and is the author of several art books.
