hardcover with slipcase, A nice copy. No writing or highlighting. Clean pages, shows very minimal signs of wear from use. Shipped with care. Feel free to inquire for photos or more details. --- 340 pages. Mark Waid's story collects the four-issue Kingdom Come series. It is set in a dark near future where Superman and the older heroes have gone into retirement. A violent new generation has wiped out the supervillains and now fights among itself, with no care for ordinary people. One of their battles kills everyone in Kansas, and Superman is persuaded to come back. The story is told through Norman McCay, a preacher in a crisis of faith who sees the events like a watching spirit. The painted artwork is crowded with figures from DC history. About the last third of the book is supplementary material: annotations, interviews, notes on the characters, sketches and an account of how the characters were developed.
