Item description from seller

iii, 27 p. ; 22 cm. Softcover. Sewn binding with rust colored heavyweight stock for wraps; with French flaps, lettered in black to the upper cover. Unnumbered limited edition of 130 copies only, printed by The Merrykit Press (owned and operated by Richard Lyons himself-on a small press in his home- for the publisher: The North Dakota Institute for Regional Studies). Book Condition: Good+ only; spine split and largely perished, covers held in place by the French flaps, chipped and frazzled at the edges pretty much all round. The sewn binding is rock solid however and the text block is unmarked and unmarred. The hand-press work is quite beautiful. Scarce, Worldcat shows a mere 7 institutional holdings, five of which are in one or the other Dakota. (**NOTE: The publication date of this title, considered one of Lyon's major works, is often cited in error as 1968, rather than 1966, which is the correct date. Wikipedia for instance makes that error. Lyon's papers are held at The North Dakota Institute for Regional Studies, and unfortunately, on occassion, they make the same error, not always, but enough. It also doesn't help that this work is often cited with the title: "Above Time", and other times by it's full title "Above Time Tenth Street Bucolics". Same book. Published in 1966, not 1968.). From the publisher: "Mr. Lyons was interested in poetry from a very early age, and at Miami University was a member of the Poet's Circle. Numerous poems by Mr. Lyons have been published in The New Yorker, The Virginia Quarterly Review and The Paris Review. His first major work was Men and Tin Kettles (1956). Other publications include One Squeaking Straw (1958), Paintings in Taxicabs (a study of art consumers in North Dakota, 1965), Above Time Tenth Street Bucolics (1966), editor of Poetry North: Five Poets of North Dakota (1970), a one-act play, "John, Where Are You?", and the three part series, Poetry and Photographs: A way into the Meaning of Space, Resources, and Life Styles in North Dakota (1976). In addition, Mr. Lyons did work in painting, drawing, and printmaking. In 1942 Mr. Lyons married Marjorie Dunkel. They had two children.Mr. Lyons was a member of the College English Association, American Studies Association, the Rourke Art Gallery, and Phi Kappa Phi. ., Richard Lyons died January 29, 2000." A talented printer, he founded and operated The Merrykit Press, which the Merrykit Press was Richard Lyons he personally printing in his home on a small hand-press. Unnumbered limited edition of 130 copies only.…
