About this Item
Broadside, 7 3/4" x 12 1/2". Light toning, else Very Good. A rare broadside, expressing Virginia Auditor James Heath's frustration with clerks' "want of attention to" the requirement that every claimant "should shew in writing his authority to receive a warrant on the treasury." Moreover, clerks have excessively delayed "the settlement of their tax accounts," sheriffs have failed to follow "the manner and form" of their returns of service, and have ignored other requirements of their office. He urges that appropriate procedures be strictly followed, "to save me the unpleasant necessity of exacting the penalty imposed.in the event of your failure." OCLC 948759431 [1- VA Hist. Soc.] as of January 2024. Seller Inventory # 27234
