folio. cloth, plastic dust jacket. 118 pages followed by a foldout specimen. First edition. Max Caflisch's copy with his pencil notation on the front free endpaper. A fine copy. "An attempt to show by illustration, rather than by explaining in words, the main changes in type forms over 500 years of printing." This large format first edition is much better produced that the small format reprints.
