228pp , ABOUT THE AUTHORS :: Donald Joseph Novak ( born 1932 ) is an American educator, professor emeritus at Cornell University and senior research scientist at the IHMC . He is known for his development of the theory of conceptual map in the early 1970.Joseph Novak graduated in science and mathematics in 1952 at the University of Minnesota, completed his Master of Science in Education in 1954 from the University of Minnesota and completed graduate studies in Educational Sciences and biology at the University of Minnesota in 1958. Novak began teaching biology at Kansas State Teachers College in Emporia between 1957-1959 , and biology teacher training courses at Purdue University between 1959 and 1967. from 1967-1995 , he was professor of education science and biology at Cornell University. Since 1998 is also Senior Visiting Scientist ( Senior Visiting Scientist) at the University of West Florida, Institute for Human & Machine Cognition . Also currently works for NASA , Navy , CIA, etc. It also acts as a consultant for more than 400 schools , universities and companies such as Procter and Gamble, and NASA , the Department of Marine and EPRI.1 He has received many awards , including an Honorary Doctorate by the University of Comahue , Neuquén ( Argentina ) in 1998 , Doctor Honoris Causa by the Public University of Navarra in Pamplona ( Spain ) in 2002 , Doctor Honoris Causa by the University of Urbino ( Italy) in 2006 , and first prize for his contributions to science education of the Council of Scientific Society Presidents (Council of Scientific Society Presidents ) .. novak 's research focused on human learning , studies of education and knowledge representation .
