Por João Antonio Carreira, José da Silva Pinheiro, e Joaquim Ignacio Moreira, boticarios visitadores, e examinadores do Juizo do Conselheiro Physico-Mór do Reino por sua Magestade. Lisboa: Impressão Regia. Anno 1817. E novamente reimpresso com Licença da Mesa do Desembargo do Paço no Anno de 1820. Duas obras in 4.º encadernadas num volume de 19,9x14,6 cm. Com 138, [iv]; 24 págs. Encadernação da época com a lombada em pele e ferros a ouro. Apresenta uma citação de uma frase latina, na folha de rosto, com a respectiva tradução em português. As quatro páginas finais da primeira obra contêm uma lista de obras do autor e uma errata. Conjunto de duas raras peças relativas a uma polémica entre Sousa Pinto e outros três colegas seus a propósito de um escrito de 8 página distribuído por ele com a Gazeta de 25 de Setembro de 1817, conforme explica na folha de rosto da sua obra, que é uma extensa resposta às apreciações negativas dos referidos colegas. Fonte importante para o estudo do exercício da farmácia e das instituições envolvidas no ensino e qualificação da profissão, na primeira metade do século XIX. António José de Sousa Pinto (Trafaria, 1777 - Lisboa, 1853). Considerado um dos mais importantes farmacêuticos da primeira metade do século XIX foi fidalgo e boticário da Casa Real. Foi educado e instruído na farmácia por um seu tio, também da mesma profissão e estabelecido com botica na Rua Nova d"El-rei, que ele depois conservou até falecer. Fez exame de farmácia em 1798. No período constitucional de 1820 a 1823 foi eleito vereador da Câmara Municipal de Lisboa, exercendo como tal as funções de Provedor-Mór da Saúde e Director do Hospital de S. Lázaro e vogal do Conselho de Saúde do Reino, em 1837. Em 1838, integrou a comissão que elaborou a nova farmacopeia. Além desta polémica combateu os fabricantes não habilitados e os que exerciam a profissão sem habilitação para tal. É autor de mais de 20 obras da sua especialidade, entre elas as seguintes: Pharmacopea chymica, medica, e cirurgica, 1805; Elementos de Pharmacia, Chymica, e Botanica para uso dos principiantes, 1805; Materia medica, em 1813; e Vade -mecum do cirurgiao, em 1815. It quotes a Latin phrase, on the title page, with the corresponding Portuguese translation. The final four pages of the first work contain a list of the author"s works and an erratum. Set of two rare pieces relating to a polemic between Sousa Pinto and three other of his colleagues concerning an 8-page piece of writing distributed by him with the Gazette of 25 September 1817, as explained on the title page of his work, which is an extensive response to the negative assessments of the said colleagues. An important source for the study of the practice of pharmacy and the institutions involved in the teaching and qualification of the profession in the first half of the 19th century. Considered one of the most important pharmacists of the first half of the 19th century, he was a nobleman and apothecary of the Royal House. Right of withdrawal
If you are a consumer you can withdraw from the contract in accordance with the following. Consumer means any natural person who is acting for purposes which are outside his trade, business, craft or profession.

Statutory right to withdraw
You have the right to withdraw from this contract within 14 days without giving any reason.
The withdrawal period will expire after 14 days from the day on which you acquire, or a third party other than the carrier and indicated by you acquires, physical possession of the last good or the last lot or piece.
To exercise the right of withdrawal, electronically fill in and submit a clear statement on our website, under "My Purchases" in "My Account". We will communicate to you an acknowledgement of receipt of such a withdrawal on a durable medium (e.g. by e-mail) without delay.
To meet the withdrawal deadline, it is sufficient for you to send your communication concerning your exercise of the right of withdrawal before the withdrawal period has expired.
Effects of withdrawal
If you withdraw from this contract, we will reimburse to you all payments received from you, including the costs of delivery (except for the supplementary costs arising if you chose a type of delivery other than the least expensive type of standard delivery offered by us).
We may make a deduction from the reimbursement for loss in value of any goods supplied, if the loss is the result of unnecessary handling by you.
We will make the reimbursement without undue delay, and not later than 14 days after the day on which we are informed about your decision to withdraw from this contract.
We will make the reimbursement using the same means of payment as you used for the initial transaction, unless you have expressly agreed otherwise; in any event, you will not incur any fees as a result of such reimbursement.
We may withhold reimbursement until we have received the goods back, or you have supplied evidence of having sent back the goods, whichever is the earliest.
You shall send back the goods or hand them over to Livraria Castro e Silva, Lisboa, Portugal, +351 213467380, without undue delay and in any event not later than 14 days from the day on which you communicate your withdrawal from this contract to us. The deadline is met if you send back the goods before the period of 14 days has expired. You will have to bear the direct cost of returning the goods. You are only liable for any diminished value of the goods resulting from the handling other than what is necessary to establish the nature, characteristics and functioning of the goods.
Exceptions to the right of withdrawal
The right of withdrawal does not apply to:
- The delivery of newspapers, journals or magazines with the exception of subscription contracts; and
- The supply of digital content which is not supplied on a tangible medium (e.g. on a CD or DVD) if you accepted when you placed your order that we could start to deliver it, and that you could not withdraw once delivery had started.
