Fidelissima, [.]. Tomo 4.º a 11.º. 1858. Públio Ovídio Naso, em latim: Publius Ovidius Naso (43. A. C. - 18 D. [EN] 11 volumes bound in one. 21.5x14 cm. 3-119; 102; 103; 3-784 pp. The numbering is followed from volume 4 to 11. Bound in full leather with red label and gilt tools on the spine. Endpapers in contemporary decorative paper and lightly marbled edges. Illustrated hors-text, on very thick paper, with a portrait of the translator of the first work, facing the title page of the first volume. Copy with some damage to the preliminary leaves, highlighting the title page, which is partially loose due to a tear, and the leaf containing pp. 7-8 of the first volume, which has an amateurish restoration. There is a label of 'Livraria de João Pereira da Silva' on the front pastedown and the front flyleaves of volumes 1 and 4 are missing. The spine bears the inscription 'Os Fastos d"Ovidio', probably a bookbinder's error. The first three volumes correspond to the paraphrased translation of "Os Amores". The fourth to eleventh volumes contain a detailed and profuse commentary and notes to the translation by José Feliciano de Castilho Barreto e Noronha entitled: A Grinalda Ovidiana and all have their own title pages with the following wording: A GRINALDA OVIDIANA, appendice to the paraphrase of Amores; by José Feliciano de Castilho Barreto e Noronha, of the Council of S.M. Fidelissima, [.]. Volume 4 to 11. Published at the home of the editor - Bernardo Xavier Pinto de Sousa. Rio de Janeiro. 1858. Publius Ovidius Naso (43. B. C. - 18 A. D.
