London. 1931, (15.5 x 10.5 cm) 200 pages with forty two line engravings by John Tenniel. A bright, clean copy, finely bound, by Riviere & Son, of this miniature edition in dark red morocco. With elegant double-gilt-engraved border with lovely heart corners on the bordering and with gilt-engraved image of the White Rabbit on the front panel. All text-block edges are in fresh gilt. The five hub raised bands each with gilt piping six-panel with titles & author gilt-engraved on leather spine-panels, the other four panels are handsomely ornamented with engraved gilt decoration. The volume is adorned with fully intact marbled end papers with handsome gilt -dentelle leather border-folds. Impeccable interiors printed on excellent coated paper stock by Richard Clay. There is a previous owner s details on the front free end page. Edge of page 155 was badly trimmed and has a small mark to the edge. A few surface indentations, top and bottom of spine a little rubbed. Tissue guard to title page still present. No foxing aging or otherwise.
