Navy boards with gilt lettering on the spine. Covers are well thumbed and rubbed, with some small swathes of white discolouration. Head and tail of spine bumped, corners smooth and bear some moderate wear and tear. Front edge of spine, at the head and tail bears some heavy wear and tear, exposing the binding. Free endpapers and pastedowns are marbled (see image), so too are the page edges although faded. Free endpapers and pastedowns are mildly discoloured and rubbed but mostly at the edges. Title pages and other endpapers bear moderate discolouration and light foxing. Most pages throughout are discoloured to a lesser degree. Previous owner's bookplate upon front pastedown, dated 1892 and presented to A Freeman from Grammar School, Tamworth. Binding is tidy, although split several places throughout, including the pastedowns. Spine slightly cocked.
