Item description from seller

[2], 25, [1 blank], as issued with the half title. Disbound and lightly spotted, Good+. Moore published this Address to rebut misrepresentations of his remarks "on the doctrine of Regeneration." Distortions of his views cause him to seek "public vindication." Moore's former friend, Dr. Linn, had published a pamphlet suggesting that Moore had distorted the meaning and significance of baptism. Hugh Gaine, the printer, took the British side during the Revolution after British troops neared New York City but, at War's end, his petition to remain in New York was approved. Appleton says Gaine "led an exemplary life, and was a man of active business habits; but he seems to have been almost without conscientious convictions." AAS's copy lacks the half title. Evans 25836.
