[2],52,[4]pp. Folio. Contemporary red morocco, gilt. Light wear and scuffing. Minor foxing. Very good. Facsimile of George Washington's accounts, kept by him during his time commanding the Continental Army. The foreword notes: "It will be recollected, that Washington received no pecuniary compensation for his services during the Revolutionary War. He kept, however, himself an account of his expenses, which, at the close of that eventful period, was presented to, and admitted by the Government." A notice bound in at the front of the text indicates that profits from the sale of this work will benefit the Washington Manual Labor School and Male Orphan Asylum. A most interesting document, both for its minute detail in some instances and sweeping generalizations for some very large sums. Seller Inventory # WRCAM45688
