About the Author

Sgt. Rasul T. Freelain (Ret.) served twenty years with the Oak Park Police Department in Illinois. During his career, he gained extensive experience working with violent adolescents and troubled families while in various roles, including sergeant, detective, gang enforcement officer, school resource officer, and patrol officer. Freelain holds a B.A. in English and M.A. in Educational Policy Studies, both from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, and has been honored as a Student Laureate by the state's Governor. He is certified by C.I.T. (Crisis Intervention Team) International as a coordinator and teaches for the Illinois C.I.T. Training Unit. Currently, he is working to bring increased awareness to the problem of child-to-parent violence and abuse (CPVA).
