Thirteen years. Hundreds of voices. A lifetime of secrets that weren't his to keep.
For over a decade, paranormal investigator Michael J. Baker sat in quiet kitchens and shadowed living rooms with ordinary people who had experienced something they could not explain. He didn't just carry equipment; he carried the weight of their accounts-stories shared in lowered voices, long after certainty had begun to erode.
This collection is born from those conversations.
Reimagined through fiction, these thirteen stories explore the moment when reality fractures and the familiar no longer behaves as expected. Across highways, coastlines, farm fields, and forgotten buildings, unseen forces press against the edges of ordinary life-not to be proven, but to be endured.
Inspired by the sincere accounts of fishermen, farmers, and city-dwellers alike, these stories move beyond evidence to capture the emotional truth of the unknown. Whether the forces at work are supernatural, psychological, or entirely human is left unresolved.
In the tradition of The Twilight Zone, this collection is not an argument for belief, but an invitation to consider what lingers when the lights come back on-and why some stories refuse to stay silent.

Michael Baker is a software and electronics engineer, musician, author, documentarian and former paranormal investigator whose work spans technology, media, and critical inquiry. For more than a decade, he immersed himself in the world of paranormal research-designing custom investigative equipment, conducting field experiments, advancing research techniques, and publishing peer-reviewed papers that challenged popular assumptions in the field. His work began with the acclaimed documentary 14 Degrees and evolved into a deeper exploration of the cultural divide between belief and evidence. Baker has been a recurring guest on The Jordan Rich Show on WBZ 1030 Boston and has appeared on Ghost Hunters, Comcast's Streets of Fear, and the pilot for History Channel's Unexplained America. He's been featured in numerous publications and podcasts, where he continues to speak on the intersection of science, skepticism, and storytelling.
