The date that changed everything.
In a near-future America where every man, woman, and child serves, there are no civilians—everyone belongs and no one is left behind, even if they want to be. Thirty years of war with Russia have forged a nation defined by discipline, unity, and purpose. And sustained by the belief that duty must endure.
To those who believe, it’s not dystopia. It’s Utopia.
Lieutenant Colonel Daniel Smith has spent his life believing in that system. Once a celebrated war hero, the Homeland Guard reassigns him to Chillicothe, Ohio to take command of his hometown—a posting that should be routine.
It isn’t.
Outgoing commander Colonel “Crazy Tom” Prescott—once the star quarterback in high school and Daniel’s former classmate—refuses to step aside. What begins as a contested transfer quickly becomes something far more dangerous. With his authority challenged at every step, Daniel seeks allies without knowing who he can trust.
At the same time, his daughter Karen—a top cadet at The Ohio State Military University—prepares to embark on her own career. Driven, disciplined, and certain of her future, she believes her next year will be decisive.

And when father and daughter come face-to-face with Crazy Tom, there will be no turning back.
MILITOPIA is a story about family, leadership, choices, and consequences. After thirty years of war, something has to give—and it may be the Smith family that gives everything.

About the Author
Scott Macmann is a former U.S. Army officer whose years in uniform continue to shape his perspective on leadership, culture, and human relationships. He served on Freedom's Frontier in Korea and later in West Germany during the final decade of the Cold War.After leaving the Army, Scott returned home to Cincinnati, Ohio, where he built a career in the brokerage industry, working in supervisory roles.He is currently a Partner and the Executive Editor at Dragon Street Press, where he collaborates with fellow authors to bring new works into the world.Scott is active in the creative community, including a stint as President of the Cincinnati Fiction Writers beginning 2022. He has volunteered with the National Security Decision-Making Game, a live-action role-playing experience designed to give insight into the complexities behind world events. His writing blends military, political, social, and psychological themes, often with a touch of dry humor. His short fiction and verse have been published on three continents.
