In a brutal near-future America, where civilization has collapsed and survival depends on trade, grit, and trust, a boy named Tuba wakes to another bitter morning behind the rusted walls of Bill’s Trade-Stop, a haven cobbled from shipping containers, barter, and stubborn decency. He doesn’t remember a life before Bill. He’s never asked much about how he came to be there. Until now.
As winter settles over the Colorado wastelands, a chance encounter stirs old memories and dangerous truths. What begins as a day like any other - feeding travelers, tending mules, becomes a journey into the past for both Tuba and the gruff trader who raised him. Over coffee, cigarettes, and trade-talk, a story unfolds: of desperate flight, of a baby rescued from violence, and a man who left behind a darker world to build something worth defending.
