For more than a thousand years, the witches of Mercer have worked behind a veil of secrecy. Serving as a counterbalance to the greed, corruption, and evil of mankind. Along with their non-magical consorts, they fight to protect the innocent and free the oppressed.
A new enemy has arisen, Meadow's Ministries. From the outside, Meadow's Ministries appears to be like any other evangelical church. On the inside, powerful beings are seeking the destruction of anyone not in alignment with their beliefs. Malleus Dei, the militant arm of the church, led by the violent and powerful Carpenters; continue their rampage of death and abduction against the witches of Mercer and their consorts. But what is happening to the people abducted by these deadly zealots?
U.S. Representative LaRhonda Kelm spends her days fighting for justice and equality in the halls of Congress. Sometimes she uses legislation and procedure, sometimes she uses the magic imbued upon her by her rebirth into Mercer as a teenager. When she is approached by Representative Harlan Rice about a project to bridge the ever-growing political divide in the country, she is skeptical but sees the value in building a coalition. What she did not expect was the complications of being a witch and working so closely with Harlan, a Christian from one of the country's most conservative districts, and what it might mean for her, and Mercer.
When his twin daughters are taken by Malleus Dei, the threat to his family and hers becomes deadly.
Bets Milburn's rebirth into Mercer is complete, and she is growing more powerful by the day. The time has come for her to join the mission. Alongside her aunt Dorthea and her sister M.M.
