Migrating to the United States as a seven-year-old child along with her family due to her parents' desires for a better life, Isabel Valencia found herself in a country she called home. In her first collection of poetry and passages, "Postscripts of a Marionette, A-Number in the System", she brings forth reflections of her journey as an immigrant. With this, she finds faith and above all finds the value of family and their unconditional love. She brings forward some anecdotes of her life in hopes that others can see that one has the inner strength to embrace one's path and accept the person one has become.
Isabel Valencia is an author and poet who migrated as a child from Michoacán, Mexico along with her family, to the agricultural area of Yakima Valley Washington. She worked the fields alongside them throughout her youth. She graduated from Grandview High School in 1997, and in 2001 began her journey to Southern California.
Since her move to Los Angeles County, she dedicated her life to achieving a career by going back to college later in life and obtaining her bachelor's degree in 2011. With this milestone, she was able to nurture her career as a Human Resources Professional in hopes of being able to strive for a better life.
Currently residing in the City of Monrovia, Isabel is a daughter, sister to six siblings, sister-in-law, and aunt to twenty-four nieces and nephews. Isabel views her family as her most comforting and significant part of her life. In her free time, she enjoys spending time drinking a cup of coffee in the company of nature, meditation, yoga, reiki, the occasional happy hour with friends, and cultivating her passion of writing poetry.
