About the Authors

Kathleen Nastasi-Solomon is a veteran elementary educator with more than 30 years of experience inspiring young learners. Throughout her career, she taught at Amagansett School on the East End of Long Island, where she was known for creating engaging, hands-on learning experiences that fostered curiosity, confidence, and a love of learning. Her classroom emphasized creativity, literacy, problem-solving, and meaningful connections to the world around students. Kathleen has extensive experience developing educational activities that make learning enjoyable while helping children build strong academic foundations.As the co-founder of Genius Makers Learning, Kathleen combines her decades of classroom experience with a passion for creating educational books and resources that families can enjoy together. Her goal is to help children learn through exploration, creativity, and joyful discovery while supporting parents and teachers with high-quality educational materials.When she isn't writing or creating educational resources, Kathleen enjoys spending time with her sons and their families, especially making memories with her two grandchildren. During the winter months, she spends as much time as possible on the ski slopes, one of her lifelong passions. Kathleen also loves to travel, cherishes time with her extended family, and is a proud member of the Long Island Sound Chorus, the East End chapter of Sweet Adelines International, where she enjoys singing and performing with fellow members.

Bonnie DeFriest-Downs is an educator, children's book author, literacy expert, and co-founder of Genius Makers Learning, LLC. She is also the founder of Turn the Page for Children, a literacy consulting practice dedicated to helping children become confident, successful readers.With more than 34 years of experience in education, Bonnie has served as a classroom teacher, literacy coordinator, graduate instructor, staff developer, and educational consultant. Throughout her career, she has worked alongside students, teachers, and families to strengthen literacy instruction, support diverse learners, and create meaningful learning experiences that inspire confidence and success.Bonnie believes every child deserves the opportunity to experience the joy of learning. Inspired by that belief, she creates engaging books and educational resources that strengthen literacy skills, spark curiosity, build confidence, and foster a lifelong love of learning. Her goal is to help families create meaningful learning moments together while making education both accessible and enjoyable.When she isn't writing or creating educational resources, Bonnie enjoys spending time with her three children and two granddaughters, who continually inspire her love of learning and imagination.
