Synopsis

Every December, the internet explodes with bold claims that Christmas is nothing more than a remix of ancient pagan festivals. Saturnalia, Sol Invictus, Yule, Mithras, Horus — you’ve heard the accusations. “Jesus is just a copycat.” “Christians stole December 25 from the pagans.” “The Christmas tree is pagan.”

There’s only one problem:
None of it is true.

In Debunking the Pagan Roots of Christmas, Kevin L. Betton Jr. delivers a powerful, thoroughly researched, and accessible rebuttal to every major claim surrounding Christmas and paganism. Drawing from Scripture, early church history, primary sources, archaeology, and centuries of Christian scholarship, this book dismantles the myths with clarity, precision, and receipts.

Inside you’ll discover:

• Why December 25 was chosen — and why Christians weren’t copying anyone

• The real history of Saturnalia and Sol Invictus — and why they have nothing to do with Christmas

• The origins of the Christmas tree, gift-giving, and other traditions

• Why claims about Horus, Mithras, Krishna, and other so-called “copycat saviors” collapse under historical scrutiny

• How Alexander Hislop created the modern pagan-myth industry — and why his work has been discredited by scholars for over a century

• Why the incarnation stands utterly unique among world religions

This is not just a defense of Christmas — it is an invitation to rediscover the beauty, wonder, and historical foundation of the moment when God became flesh and dwelt among us.

Whether you’ve wrestled with these questions yourself or want to confidently answer friends, family, or online skeptics, this book will equip you to stand firm with truth, clarity, and confidence.

Christmas is not pagan.
It never was.
And now you’ll know exactly how to prove it.
