Synopsis
Sue Poncin is fighting for the title of “Most Overworked, Involved, and Exhausted Parent” and thriving on accolades as her high school’s AP Calculus teacher when a virus unleashes a tornado within her body. Within weeks she is someone whose symptoms mimic those of Parkinson’s, MS, and stroke patients.
In The Space Between follows Poncin's uncharted journey from an initial COVID infection through long COVID turning her life upside down to finding a way to live with an unknown disease. After being torn out of her caffeine fueled life by the insidious claws of long COVID, this ultimate boss mom forges a path to healing by unearthing the stories of her past while learning to accept love from her tribe on Earth and spirits from beyond. Long COVID steals her ability to make the “S” sound and lift her leg to stomp while giving her insight on lifting up people around her in a way she never could before. Poncin explores why stepping back, putting parent accomplishments aside and slowing down to be present in our families’ lives strengthens and broadens the loving bonds we have. She delves into the role a strong community of love and hope plays in her journey from losing a career full of pride and accomplishments to graceful acceptance of living with an unpredictable disability.
