Synopsis

When Maggie Buckley steps off Cunard's S.S. Etruria into 1888 New York City's Castle Garden, a new world opens up to her. No more a child in Ahadallane, County Cork where her father Jeremiah survived An Gorta Mor (the Great Hunger), she is now a sixteen-year-old immigrant in a country ripe with possibility.

She couldn't know how far from her home she would travel into America, nor oculd she know how many lives her decision would touch. As her parents survived devastating losses, so will she as she journeys toward a life that is unforeseen, challenging, and ultimately fulfilling. Love and laughter will be central despite trauma and tragedy as Maggie shows generations that follow the way forward. Maggie's story is one of hardship and hope as well as enduring resilience.
