Synopsis

So, you want Adventure in Alaska! How about this? Would you marry a daring WWII pilot and head for Alaska, America’s final frontier? Would you go even if it meant surviving a harrowing trip over the Al-can highway, including a breakdown, a wild tow, and desperate measures to make repairs? – The Walkers did, while Harriet was three months pregnant!

Would you find discarded bread dough threatening to take over your outhouse amusing? – Harriet didn’t! Or what about a tumble on the steps leading to a 75-mile trip over wintry gravel roads to give birth to their first child? – Harold, Harriet, and Tommy made it.

What would you do if the only available housing during an arctic winter was a summer cottage with frozen-shut doors? Could you save your baby, who was warming on the open oven door, when a fire started in the cottage’s attic? – Harriet did.

Two Kansas school teachers survive homestead living by hunting, canning, starting a sawmill business, and building their own cabin. Three thousand miles from her Midwestern roots, Harriet finds peace in having everything she needs: food in the pantry, a tea kettle on the stove, a loving husband, and a brand-new baby. There is no need to travel back; she is home.

Don’t miss this new third edition of Harriet’s touching and thrilling story, where 70 years later, Tommy introduces each batch of letters that recount his Mom’s incredible real-life Alaskan adventure in Your Alaskan Daughter!
