Synopsis

Before you uproot anything, you have to see the ground clearly.

Before the Roots: Seven Days of Preparing the Ground is a guided companion to Exposing the Hidden Roots of the Troubled Soul, Volume I of The Hidden Roots Series. It is written for the believer who has prayed, fasted, confessed, and tried again, and still watches the same patterns grow back.

Rooted in God's charge to "break up your fallow ground" (Jeremiah 4:3; Hosea 10:12), Kelly Jennings walks you through seven days of honest, shame-free self-examination before the deeper work of deliverance begins. This week you are not uprooting anything. You are surveying: learning to look at your own life without flinching and without condemning yourself.

Inside, you'll discover:

• Why the fruit you keep fighting is evidence, not your identity
• How a behavior can stop while the appetite beneath it stays alive
• What to expect when the ground is disturbed and old things begin to surface
• How to ask God to search your heart instead of circling in introspection
• The difference between naming a root and claiming it
• Why the Holy Spirit, not your striving, does the uprooting

Each day includes:

• A KJV Scripture passage
• A short, practical teaching
• The Soil Survey, guided reflection prompts with space to write
• A Reading Map connecting the day to specific chapters of Volume I

You'll also find dedicated journaling pages (What God Said, Roots I Suspect, and Uprooted) to carry with you through the full book. They give you a dated record, in your own handwriting, of what God has done.

The book also helps you prepare wisely. It walks you through choosing one safe person to walk with you, setting your pace before you need it, and recognizing when additional support is the wise next step.

Ideal for personal devotion, small groups, women's ministries, prayer teams, and anyone preparing to read Exposing the Hidden Roots of the Troubled Soul.

The ground does not have to be perfect. It only has to be honest.
This companion is ministry material for spiritual encouragement and reflection. It is not clinical or psychological care.
