Synopsis

Philemon had difficult decisions to make. His runaway slave had returned, and a famous apostle had sent a message to his local church. How would he respond?
The Apostle Paul wrote a personal letter to Philemon who lived in the city of Colossae and another letter to the Colossian church. These letters are included in the Bible. The letter to Philemon was an appeal on behalf of the runaway slave who had become a Christian. The letter to the church challenged the people in various areas including who Jesus is, opposition to legalism, Christian ethics, household relationships, and thanksgiving. We face the same spiritual challenges as Philemon and the Colossians.
A Slow Walk through Colossians: 90 Devotional Meditations on Philemon and Colossians is a collection of meditations in daily-devotional format, slowly walking through the letters from Paul to Philemon and to the church in Colossae a verse or two at a time. This approach will appeal to those who like a verse-by-verse style of devotional Bible study where meditations draw points from a book of Scripture in sequence. Some meditations focus on Philemon, his runaway slave, or others. These will appeal to those who like a historical-people style of study where the lives of historical people illustrate biblical principles.
The Christian Standard Bible, a modern translation by evangelical scholars, is the primary translation. An index of all Bible references and meditation titles is included.
