How does movement occur? What are the fundamental principles that allow you to move through the world? What is input? Why are levers an important piece to understanding rotation?
Co-authored by movement genius Adarian Barr and movement expert Jenn Pilotti, this book is written for the curious mover, athlete, coach, or teacher. You will learn the key aspects to how movement occurs and will be inspired to look at movement through a different lens.
Let Me Introduce You is the start of a conversation about movement.
It invites critical thinking and curiosity. It's an opportunity to throw out preconceived ideas about
what should and shouldn't happen, the rules that exist around certain every day movement
tasks, exercises, and athletic skills.
The curious coach or mover is left with the ability to observe and assess what they see based
on the scientific principles that govern our physical world; what's left is an opportunity to
suggest.
The suggestion also invites a conversation, because if the suggestion leads to a reward of some
kind, the student, client, or athlete will want to try again; if not, the conversation takes a different
turn.
A conversation, by definition, means ideas are exchanged between two or more people. In our
case, these ideas revolve around a theme and appear in threesomes (because we like threes).
Some of the topics include:
Lever arm, fulcrum, effort
Stress, strain, deformation
Anchors, pressure, input
Collisions, vibrations, expansion
Levers, threesomes, movement
We invite you to join the conversation as we discuss, explore, and, of course, move.

Adarian is a movement genius. His makes the complex simple.
Jenn has been studying the principles of movement since 2002. She holds a B.S. in exercise physiology, an M.S. in Human Movement, and has studied a number of movement disciplines, including dance, soft acrobatics, and aerial arts. While in graduate school, she became fascinated by the lack of research on endurance running (one of her favorite past times), and it wasn't until she met Adarian in 2020 that she began to finally understand the components that allow a person to run fast in a way that is energy efficient.Jenn also lectures on topics such as mindfulness for the Navy Senior Leadership Seminar and regularly lectures and teaches workshops movement educators and curious movers.
