Three cedar trees hold the truth behind the Bird Girl's origin and destiny in book four of the developing serial chapter book series of seven books.
For more than sixty years, Benita has been “trapped” within two worlds. In one she’s a crow and in the other, a girl. But her ability to transform between crow and girl is failing. The trees alone can tell her why, if only she can coax them to reveal their secret.
As Benita's ability to transform weakens, she becomes visible to adults. And a group of neighbors are intent on capturing her. The Bird Girl discovers bits of her history from an elder woman who, as a child, was a member of her Bird Club. To recover her abilities, Benita must find a portal through the three cedar trees into her home world.
Other books in The Bird Club, a single extended story told through seven books:
Book 1: Ben and the Bird Girl. Third grader Ben meet a “bird girl.” She’s a crow most of the time and at others a girl.
Book 2: The Owl Boy. A "bird boy" wants to join Benita's Bird Club. She's happy until learning that he is a Great-horned Owl, an enemy of crows everywhere!
Book 3: The Fickle Forest. Owen the Owl Boy confides strange and disturbing news to members of the Bird Club: the state forest has a mind of its own!
Book 5: The Impossible Divide. Benita the Bird Girl and Owen the Owl Boy enter a strange borderland that separates the human world from one reserved entirely for animals.
Book 6: Wild World. Owen the Owl Boy travels with Benita the Bird Girl to her home world. Though no place for kids, Wild World also calls to the Bird Club members who won't be left behind.
Book 7: Sunrise. Benita, Owen, and the Bird Club petition the High Council of Crows to restore Benita's ability to transform between crow and girl. But will the Council do so? And what will it tell Benita and Owen of their true natures and missions on Earth?
