Synopsis

The much-anticipated sequel to the bestselling novel Beginning’s End.

A New Beginning follows Amelia as she returns home to San Francisco to resume life while trying to build on her connection with Padraig. She’s determined to be smart about this new development in her love life, unlike last time.

Things start well. She settles back into work and friends and cherishes phone calls and emails with Padraig. He comes to visit for Thanksgiving, and they pick up right where they left off. She even starts to realize how much of a wall she’s built around herself, and is now determined to not let failures from her past relationship affect her and Padraig. Doubts creep back in, however, helped by a long-time friend who challenges her resolve and Gwynn’s renewed advances toward Padraig (and his refusal to rebuff them).

David makes a surprise visit, starting as a work endeavor but turning to an interest in Amelia. Will her feelings for Padraig be strong enough to resist the charms of another Irishman who is all too ready to make some big changes of his own? How will Padraig respond to these advances, from his best friend since childhood?

News of Kathleen and Cian’s engagement and subsequent wedding then has Amelia travelling back to Ireland. She feels the pull again, to Padraig as well as the country that has held exciting times for her in the past and now the present. She’ll again return to San Francisco but with an even further-shifting heart.

With a new cast of characters giving her advice, she tries to navigate this long-distance relationship and hopes to ultimately answer the question: Can love really grow across the seas?
