It's a Dog's Life - Softcover

Sullivan, Kate

9798950749063: It's a Dog's Life

Synopsis

Every dog in Newburyport, Massachusetts, has an inner monologue. Kate Sullivan finally lets them speak.
Meet Leo, the king of scat, canny Sigmund Freud (who overthinks), Arlo ("named after some singer, I guess"), schmoozing with vegetable hunters at the farmer's market. Meet French-speaking dogs, skating dogs, flirting dogs, and dogs who want popcorn (buttered). Grateful dogs, worried dogs, dogs with the zoomies. And smile with the humans on the other end of the leash — proud, harried, utterly devoted, and mostly along for the ride.
Local artist and columnist Kate Sullivan has spent years watching, sketching, and falling in love with the dogs who make this city what it is. Painted with warmth and whimsy and paired with the wandering thoughts only a dog could think, this is a love letter to a small city on the Merrimack — its brick sidewalks, its harbor breezes, its dog-friendly small businesses, and the four-legged philosophers who trot its streets like they own the place.
(They do.)
Warm, funny, and unmistakably local, this is a book for anyone who loves a dog, walks a dog, or has ever paused to squeal, “WHO’S A GOOD BOY??”
