Verdara is not a natural world. It is an enormous living zoo.
Dragons fitted with control implants patrol the skies. Invisible Glass Stalkers hunt through the forests. Bone Eaters, Echo Wolves, and towering Ash Titans roam carefully constructed habitats. Every creature has been stolen, bred, or engineered by an ancient digital civilization known as the Curators, beings who broadcast terror and death as entertainment.
When a planetary shield traps the Aegis on the surface, Alexander’s mysterious Ring-Bearer band awakens. Twenty-three symbols begin counting down, and the voices of twenty-three dead Ring Bearers invade his mind. Each bearer attempted to challenge the Curators. Each one failed.
Now the band is consuming Alexander’s nervous system, and it has begun reaching for Anna.
With the Curators preparing their deadliest creatures for one final hunt, Anna must organize the defense of an underground settlement while Alexander enters the civilization’s digital core. Their only hope is to turn the suffering of countless prisoners against the monsters who created it.
