Synopsis

From an eight-month-long episode of an eye allergy leading to severe anxiety and derealisation in 2021, to staring at cockroaches, indecisive about whether to kill them; from a detailed account of Captain Saurabh Kalia’s bravery, to the most mundane love triangles written only so that I can use the word ‘blue’ in every line; from hating ‘love’ and still writing many poems about love, loss and healing, to being aggressive and sarcastically concerned about the filth and ‘doglapan’ of society; all I want to say is that I don’t have a theme for my debut poetry collection.

I give you ‘Tough Toad,’ which is also the title of one of my poems in the book. The good, the bad and everything in between. I am the Tough Toad. The Tough Toad is me. And this, my dear friends, is me saying, “Hello.”
