Synopsis
Urban design is the art of creating spaces which are public in nature and intended to be used by all. Derived from the idea of civic design at city level presently urban design is considered as the most recognized way to deal with urban complexities. This book contains a study of basics of urban design derived from various literature studies. It discusses the viewpoint of famous urban designers and showcases the methodology followed for urban design investigation at city level. The idea behind this work is not only to showcase what exists but also to share strategies and ways for future developments. The overall essence of this book is to provide a comprehensive idea to students about the need and vocabulary of urban design. The proposed volume is divided into three parts while creating and evolving the concept of urban design. The first part describes the intelligence of various aspects of the subject. The influential areas and approach towards sustainable urban design practices have been explored and illustrated in this section. The second part discusses the literature contribution of some of the renowned urban designers. The third section of this book is all about the principles and theories of urban design.
