Alif Yah'ya', born Oliver Christi Oates is the twelfth child of John and Alice Oates. He graduated from Sterling High School in Sheffield Alabama before pursuing higher education at Lasalle University and Temple university School of Law in Philadelphia Pennsylvania. His profound mission is to unveil the true history of slavery and to show that life after slavery was not in any way a time of freedom for former enslaved people. He also strives to show that the effects of slavery, and the periods after, such as reconstruction, and Jim Crowism, and even today, have a negative impact on the way that the former slaves see themselves, and the way others treat them.
