Drawing on contemporary and relatable examples, historian Federico Navarrete offers an original analysis of the links between racism and the grave cases that have shaken Mexico: from the femicides in Juárez and the massacre of migrants in San Fernando to the forced disappearance of the Ayotzinapa teaching students.
Racism prevails in Mexico. It is an everyday reality that takes shape in a private conversation just as much as in “aspirational” advertising campaigns or exclusionary public policies.
Unfortunately, a large segment of the population remains indifferent to this phenomenon.

About the Author
Federico Navarrete nació en la Ciudad de México en 1964 y es escritor, maestro e historiador. A lo largo de treinta años ha escrito libros sobre la historia y la cultura de los pueblos indígenas de México y América. Entre ellos se encuentran el ensayo México racista y las novelas Huesos de lagartija y Nahuales contra vampiros, así como los libros de historia La conquista de México y La invención de los caníbales.
