A study of Bronze Age civilizations and the sudden collapse of these civilizations three thousand years ago. The sudden loss of institutions like the priesthood, with its specialized knowledge, resulted in a catastrophic loss, the loss of the knowledge of myth and symbol. The result was a distortion of religious culture and of civilization as whole. The author argues for renewal, and a new theology, Reflexive Theology, which recovers the archaic knowledge.
