Life in LaVie Billet on the island of New Pangaea, is largely uneventful for sisters Camille and Aurelia. Their world is small, but it is safe. The boundary of their billet is the edge of their universe, and to move beyond is unthinkable. That was until, on one unremarkable woodland walk by the edge of the boundary, unknown forces kidnap fifteen year old Aurelia.
This is the beginning of a journey forced upon Camille, where she is compelled to leave the stifling security of her home, and cross the vast island in search of her missing sister.
On her journey Camille visits strange places and meets unusual people, whose ideas and customs are jarring and unlike anything she has ever encountered before. In wandering the land she learns a lot about the world she lives in and herself; her desires, her fears, and ultimately who she wants to be. Just as she discovers more about herself she also recognises the fallibility of the world constructed around her, and she knows that nothing will ever be the same again.
