Description:
Meet Pete. All he wants to do is hang out with his teenage sister, Sally Sue.
But getting her to listen is hard, especially when she puts on her headphones to tune him out.
On the way to his room, Pete stumbles upon a magic string that can turn into anything!
So, with magic string in hand, Pete tries to get his sister’s attention by conjuring up ever more destructive forces until she has no choice but to take notice!
Michael Astrachan and Tim Otis weave a fun and exciting story that reminds us of the importance of paying attention, caring for family, and working together when a giant Dinosaur magically appears in your living room!
Perfect for reading aloud and during story time!
From the Back Cover:
This is the story of a boy named Pete whose parents go to the movies and leave Pete’s sister in charge. Pete, who see the magic in the simplest things, finds a magic string that can turn into anything!
What’s the worst that can happen?
Michael Astrachan
Michael’s artistic journey has taken him from airbrushing T-shirts to illustration and oil painting, to starting XVIVO Scientific Animation www.xvivo.com.
Michael dreamed up Pete and the Magic String after meeting String Theorist, Brian Greene. Brian’s theory explores how the fundamental properties of string, such as mass, density, and shape are determined by its vibrational states. This unified theory inspired the story about a kid who could dance and sing and turn a string in anything!
Michael hopes you enjoy the book as much as he has enjoyed bringing it to life.
