One of the most emotionally complex and difficult things a person can experience is taking care of an elderly parent. Very few people anticipate this task, some deny that it’s coming. However, sooner or later, a bathroom fall or a doctor’s diagnosis can thrust adult children into roles of caregivers overnight.
The author decided to write this book because she has been looking after her mother for the last seven years with the help of Social Services– it is a subject that is close to her heart. During this time she has gained valuable knowledge at a personal level about what is involved in caring for an elderly person with dementia. It is her sincere hope that this book will be useful to people in the same situation as mine, and maybe solve some problems they might face.
