Synopsis

This book of poems straddles hemispheres; geographically, religiously and of the mind. It records in smooth-word some things difficult to swallow and other things more seductive like clear streams and the brush of soft warmth on a still evening. The strength of the imagery comes from depth of experience and perspective. When things get too frightening it is convenient to snuggle into spring-green moss in the crotch of an old oak or sit quietly in a sunlit temple by the river. When the mundane begins to erode one’s sense of wonder, a step into darkness may spark new light. Not everything is smooth. Sometimes the words truncate thought decisively, relieve you of having to follow a lunatic into the labyrinth. So be it. Perspectives shift from western culture to the east, from one god to complex divinity and from spider’s many eyes surveilling the human world to humans tangled in webs of their own making. Have at it! Poetry is not for everyone, but everyone is in this book.
