This journey takes the reader from Subic Bay, Philippines, to Southern California, to Cambridge, Massachusetts, and Marseille, France. It’s a story of adventure, recounting the author’s efforts in the 1980s to search for a mechanism to break the light barrier (warp drive). At the time, the research surrounding superluminal travel was a “cottage industry” in the physics community, hence the author encountered household names in physics and others who would become Nobel laureates. It’s a story of perseverance, trial, and failure, and of fighting through depression, friendship, and decision. But mostly, this is a story of the greatest endeavor in life—seeking and finding God. The story is also about the author’s encounters with the Boston Movement and with the same movement in its early days in San Diego, California.
