Synopsis
This is a narrative of the author’s early life during the 1950s, his personal experiences from a young child to teenager, both inside school and out. He offers a taste of life after the Second World War when money was in short supply and ‘make do and mend’ was the order of the day. Hardships yes, but good times too. He describes his earliest memories and school adventures, some good, some not so good, during both his primary and secondary education. He includes aspects of his at-times carefree life living in the Wiltshire countryside and touches on his varied relationships with members of his family. Colourful descriptions of holidays enjoyed, with and without his family, are also covered. Finally, he embraces a summary of national and international events of the time. His account of living in the 1950s will no doubt strike a chord with others who lived during the era.
