For over 20 years, John R. Daab wrote a newspaper column for his local weekly newspaper. It turned into a personal-essay column in which he discussed pets, flat-earthers, the chore of cleaning the fridge, his preference for manual typewriters, his passion for Italy, his memories of growing up in the Fifties and going to college in the Sixties, and any other topic that caught his fancy. The compiler and editor is his wife and his best friend, so factor that in, but his columns are clever, funny, and endearing. John's columns won several press awards over the years from the Illinois Press Association and the Northern Illinois Newspaper Association.
