From the author: The purpose of this manual is to present to the beginning algebra student a general, step-by-step procedure that will enable the student to “get a handle” on a problem and proceed successfully from the simple to the more complex problems, all within the same general format. The serious and dedicated student will actually derive pleasure from solving word problems as she/he begins to see that a systematic approach is really not difficult. Note: The original illustrations and formatting have been kept as they were done "in-house" by Dr. Amador in order to preserve his sense of humor and authenticity. He would not have wanted it changed. About the author: Dr. Alberto A. Amador III, or Dr. A, as his students often called him was a published PhD Chemist that dedicated his life to higher education. He taught chemistry and mathematics at University of Texas El Paso, University of Puerto Rico at Cayey, and at Northern New Mexico College. He often said, "what one monkey can do, any other monkey can do," and this belief drove him to teach his students that they could learn and do anything they set their minds to. He passed away in 2016, but his legacy continues through his family and the thousands of students he taught over his long career.
