Synopsis
Anjali is the daughter of immigrant parents and is dealing with her first bully. Her food is branded as abnormal and her love for ethnic food is used as a cause for making her feel she does not fit in. This book introduces the situation many immigrant children go through and often ends up making them feel ashamed of their culture. There are different ways to deal with bullies and this book tells how Anjali stood up to her bully which would be a good introduction to a conversation about diversity and acceptance of differences to raise awareness and create compassion in children.
