Synopsis
Jamie’s relationship with her father is one of frustration and pain, leaving her with a sense of abandonment and rejection. Making it clear to her she was unwanted from birth because she was not a boy, and later that she was a disappointment to him, Jamie goes to university against his wishes unsupported by him, but she does so to escape his oppressive control. She resorts to extreme measures to fund her education, measures that debase and humiliate her, and ultimately reveal a shocking truth.
The complex psychology of the father-daughter relationship is played out in Jamie’s young life as she tries to heal the wounds of an emotionally sterile childhood. Her story is shocking in its truth, painful in its reality and saddening to know. Can she escape her past and move forward with her life free from anger, hate and frustration?
