The first book in the series 'Calder Valley Capers'. The books are set in a fictitious small Yorkshire town just to the east of the Pennines and follow the comings and goings of 'our Hero', a popular and well-meaning, but often hapless chap who struggles to cope with a world seemingly dominated by women. What started as a project to write a few 'Talking Heads-style' monologues soon became a series of four books with more to come. This book, and indeed the series are set in a time before mobile phones, internet etc. and are unashamedly nostalgic. Described as " Following in the footsteps of Alan Bennet and peter Tinniswood with carefully observed and detailed characters. A wonderfully warm and entertaining read."
