Synopsis
This book was developed by a coding teacher to help her students and others understand the complicated and confusing coding guidelines.
This book is based on the Official Coding Guidelines effective October 1, 2021. It is updated every fall. A summary of the changes for 2022 is included.
The book takes the guidelines and places them into charts for easier reference. Also included are decision trees to help select the correct root operation and approach. Then it provides a detailed discussion of each body system, with examples of surgical and nonsurgical procedures in the body system.
The book also includes quizzes on the 7 characters that make up PCS codes and a PCS dictionary.
