The institution is named after its founding donor (17 years after his death), British chemist James Smithson.

Also, something encouraging: computer tests of attention and the ability to focus revealed that older adults actually improved in two of three key brain functions, at least until their mid-to-late 70s.

And, the usual very good news – there are many talented children in classical music, languages, mathematics, physics, chemistry, geography, and other areas.
