Synopsis

Tyler

I had a plan for this cruise. Three months, every port mapped out, back home before anything got complicated.

Then a senator's son lost his grip on a rock wall and caught my eye instead, and I stopped looking at my itinerary.

I'm good at keeping things at the right distance. I know how to want something and not let it get close enough to hurt. Jaxon never seemed to understand that rule. Three months of him, patient in a way I hadn't expected, and I found myself thinking I might have found the person who could fit in my life.

And I didn't know if I should be overjoyed or terrified.

So I left. Before he could.

Jaxon

I've never been patient. Tyler would tell you that himself.

But somewhere between jet skis and a life jacket and a kiss that caught me off guard, I stopped being in a hurry. Three months with him and I forgot that about myself.

He left without warning. Didn't say goodbye properly, just disappeared back into his life like the whole thing had been part of his itinerary all along.

He was wrong about that. I just had to wait for him to figure it out.
